DOWN EAST SINGERS will be preparing two separate concert productions for the the spring of 2012:
CARMINA BURANA Saturday, April 14th, 7:30 p.m. Strom Auditorium
Carl Orff's monumental 1937 masterpiece will be performed under the auspices of Bay Chamber Concerts. Professional soloists include soprano Suzanne Nance, Music Director of Maine Public Radio; counter-tenor John McVeigh and baritone Andrew Garland with pianists Sean Fleming and Jennifer McIvor.
MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT Monday, May 28th, 5:00 p.m. Camden Opera House
The program will feature Handel's Te Deum and Jubilate for the Peace of Utrecht (1713) accompanied by The Mozart Mentors Orchestra composed of string teachers and their top students. The concert will be repeated at Blue Hill Congregational Church on Sunday, June 17 at 4 p.m.
The May 28th concert will also include shorter works on the subject of peace and repertoire suitable for Memorial Day. This will include Shaker songs, Negro spirituals and Igor Stravinsky's arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner.

Registration for the Spring semester will be on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012, 6:15 pm, Nativity Lutheran Church, 179 Old County Road, Rockport.
(New singers and those who have been away from the group for more than one semester are required to complete a voice placement check with the music director.)
